WD Sentinel (DX4000): Disk is not compatible


If you have Western Digital WD Sentinel (DX4000, DX4200, DS5100, DS6100) NAS device, you may have trouble replacing the failed drive. Even if the drive is from the compatibility list, the device does not see it as compatible. Fortunately, WD Support has a solution

  1. Go to Western Digital web site
  2. Click on Support link.
  3. Click on link for all legacy products
  4. Expand WD Sentinel and click on See details for your product
  5. Go to Downloads section and you will see WD Sentinel Drive Enabler

Download this application and run it. It will remove the compatibility restrictions and you will be able to use any drive that matches size and interface type.
