Removing the Adobe Reader Tools Pane

April 9, 2016

The new version of Adobe Reader contains so called Tools pane on the right hand side of the application. I cannot say it is completely useless, but it is needed only 1% of the time. It would be so nice to keep it hidden by default.

System event notification service failed to logon

November 20, 2015

During the logon to one of the Windows 7 workstations I received the following message:

System event notification service failed to logon: Access Denied

The fix is available in the Internet and is pretty simple:

  • Log into the computer in safe mode with networking
  • Run CMD as an administrator
  • Restart the computer

Unfortunately, I couldn’t run CMD as Administrator. The system could not find the path, even though running CMD without elevated privileges was fine.

Well, I created a batch file with the same netsh command

added it to Startup folder and restarted the computer. The issue was fixed

Cannot Delete File with Spaces

August 26, 2015

Windows cannot delete some files with spaces, especially if the space is at the end of the file name. The delete command trims the spaces from the name and then simply cannot find such file. Old fashion DEL command like this

DEL /F “F:\Folder1\Folder2\File Name “

still may not work.

Error 26002. Setup failed to register VMware vCenter Server to VMware vCenter Inventory Service

August 9, 2014

During the new installation of VMware vCenter 5.5, I received an error 26002 while it was trying to register with Inventory Service. The solution was pretty simple, thank you the article that I found here: Even thought I copied the SSL folder from the previous version of vCenter (as the upgrade document says), it did not work. Actually, the SSL folder should be copied from C:\Program Data\VMware\Infrastructure\Inventory Service to C:\Program Data\VMware\VMware Virtual Center before vCenter installation. So, you need to create the C:\Program Data\VMware\VMware Virtual Center folder first.
